A Snook's Bio

With spring about to kick off a lot of anglers in Tampa Bay are looking forward to the in suing snook spawning period... This is because snook are some of the most powerful and hardest fighting inshore species of fish that you can go after due to their strength and speed. They are also extremely elusive and their feeding habits are hard to target because one day they'll eat shrimp and the next you'll only catch them on artificial lures.

Fishing Upper Tampa Bay

Fished Upper Tampa Bay with Capt. Shawn and john in search of Snook in our trusty yaks and Found them. it all started with me sight-casting an 18" sitting shallow on an oyster bar. After that the bite was on! Over 22 Snook were caught and safely released up to 31". D.O.A. paddletail in pearl kept us on. We also managed to land a dozen reds to 18", flounder, lady fish and some PHAT Trout. We caught all of these on a shorter half day trip too!!

Ft.Desoto Fishing

This time of year I spend a lot of time paddling in beautiful Ft. Desoto. Set just inside the mouth of Tampa Bay, Ft. Desoto is known for producing every species the bay has to offer. August/September are excellent months to target big bruiser Redfish in the Ft. On the new and full moon phases these fish will school up and feed aggressively.

You can also network with other anglers, share photos, fishing tips, and even promote and sell spots to your upcoming fishing charters. All of these capabilities combined maked FishNCheap.com the most unique and effective fishing social network on the internet.

Tampa Fishing Charters

The other benefit of FishNCheap.com is that you can actually pay for just your own spot on a Tampa fishing charter! If you’ve never booked a private fishing charter you wouldn’t understand that you typically have to book the captain’s entire boat. Then you’re burdened with the responsibility of having to find the other people who are going to split the cost with you. With most fishing trips being in the range of $500 - $1000, you’re going to want to split the cost with as many other people anglers as the captain will allow. If you’re traveling outside of your local area on vacation and don’t have anyone to split the cost of the charter with, it’ll probably be outside of your budget to go fishing. FishNCheap solves this problem making it affordable for anyone to go fishing anywhere they want.

Tampa Bay, FL Bait Recommendations

With St.Petersburg, FL being one of the best places to fish in the U.S. and having so many different species to fish for, a rookie may start to get a little confused when it comes to choosing bait. Well believe it or not, most baits are pretty universal and can be used to catch just about anything that swims

Red Snapper Are Here! - Tampa Bay, Fl

Finally the opening of red snapper season for 2011, along with the close of amberjack. The offshore fishing right now is at its best. Numerous snapper species have been covering wrecks and other bottom structures from 40-140ft, including nice flag yellowtails, mangos, and AR's.

King Mackerel and Tarpon fishing in Tampa bay has been fantastic in recent weeks. Kingfish are following their migration pattern up the west coast of Florida towards Louisiana throughout these summer months. This year they got off to a slow start, but finally arrived in good numbers along Tampa's shipping channels, Skyway Bridge, artifical reefs and Clearwater, Fl's renowned hard bottom.

Capt Jesse Mayer - Sky Way Bridge

Sunday's trip really was one of those classic Florida spring days where the weather is perfect and the fishing conditions ideal. Really nice white bait are pretty thick along Blinds Pass bridge. After only a couple tosses of the cast net I had all the bait I needed for the entire day. With the live well stocked we headed to sky way area.

James Gang Fishing Report - 4/8/2011

We've run charters out of St.Petersburg and Clearwater, FL every day the weather has allowed in the past month, and the fishing just keeps getting better. We've been catching everything from permit and kingfish, to amberjack and multiple cobia ranging from 40 to 65lbs. The bottom bite has been outstanding, but unfortunately still cant harvest gag grouper. Still no giant balls of Mangrove Snappers yet but they should be hear soon. Theres herds of sardines in the blue water so the tunas and other pelagics will soon follow. Also spotted a couple of sailfish but they had no interest in  our live threadfins.
